He began his professional career in 2004 when he co-created "Tzeret" (Heartburn) alongside Ilan Rosenfeld, Kobi Faraj, and Oded Paz—a daily sketch show that aired on the Music Channel (Channel 24) during its early days. Later, he continued working with "HaPijamot", writing several episodes for the series.
He directed HaPijamot spin-off series: "HaPijamot in Café Kof-Sol" (Seasons 1 & 2) and "HaPijamot in the Duvaleh Show," for which he also wrote several episodes. Throughout most seasons of HaPijamot, Gera appeared as a guest actor playing the character Bye Guinness (a daily entertainment show host) on the segment "Erev Sof with Bye Guinness"—a parody of the show "Erev Tov with Guy Pines."
