Charles Exbrayat (May 5, 1906 – March 8, 1989) was a French author known for his prolific output of over 100 novels and short stories, primarily humorous thrillers. His work achieved significant popularity, with numerous adaptations for film.

Exbrayat initially pursued a career in medicine, studying in Nice with his parents. However, he ultimately found his calling in writing. His debut novel, "Aller sans Retour" (Single Fare, No Return), was written while he resided in Geneva before moving to Paris. He became a prominent figure in the "le Masque" collection, a renowned series of French thrillers. Exbrayat's work also explored other settings, including Scotland (the "Imogene" series) and Italy.
